Roadway Paving Update

Binder course pavement has been placed on Alpine Street, Janice Road, Baniulis Road, Kazimer Drive, Kern Drive, Nolte Road, New Foster Avenue, and Philip Road. The contractor is preparing for the placement of top course pavement. Current activities involve the installation of Cape Cod berm, installation of sidewalk ramps, and utility structure adjustments. Additionally, on roadways that have existing sidewalks, we are preparing the sidewalks for a pavement overlay.

Following the placement of top course pavement, the contractor will repair driveway aprons to provide a smooth transition to the new roadway; loam and seed the edge of roadway and any disturbed areas; and perform any other miscellaneous work, as needed.

Stage II Water Restriction in Effect

The Town of Billerica is currently under a mandatory Stage II Water Restriction on nonessential outdoor water use. Outdoor water usage will be limited to an odd-even allocation program. Even-numbered houses may water on even-numbered calendar days; odd-numbered houses may water on odd-numbered calendar days.

New Price List for Appliance Recyclers

Appliance Recyclers' prices, as approved by the Board of Selectmen, have been set for the next fiscal year. New prices for collection and disposal of appliances, CRTs, and tires will be in effect for the first collection in July. The prices for most items will remain the same. There will be a new category for very large CRTs with screens 32" or larger, measured on the diagonal. To see the new list, click here.

2010 Crack Sealing

2010 Road Paving List

The following roadways (see map) are scheduled for paving this season:

   Alpine Street from Boston Road to Chelmsford Town Line    

   Pond Street from Race Street to Andover Road

   Andover Road from Boston Road to Pond Street

   Salem Road from Woodbury Road to Beverly Road including              improvements at the Pond Street/Salem Road intersection

   Pinehurst Avenue from Glenside Avenue to Glenvale Avenue and from       Endleigh Avenue to Christina Avenue

   Janice Road from Treble Cove Road to Baniulis Road

   Baniulis Road from Nolte Road to dead end

   Kazimer Drive from Baniulis Road to Nolte Road

   Kern Drive from Baniulis Road to Nolte Road

   Nolte Road from Baniulis Road to Phyllis Drive

   New Foster Avenue from Bridge Street to Freedom Way

   Philip Road from New Foster Avenue to Charles Anna Lane

The Town of Billerica is launching a new Community Information Service designed to deliver important and timely information to residents in our area using the latest technology.  This service, created by Nixle, LLC delivers trustworthy and important neighborhood-level public safety and community event notifications by web, e-mail, and cell phone text. The Nixle system will be used by Police, Fire and DPW to provide timely information to participating residents.
