Q. Can I put my address on my cart?
A. Each cart will be registered to a specific address and marked
with an identifying
serial number. Residents may mark the carts with
their address, but markings must not cover the Town seal or the
serial number.
Q. Who owns the trash cart?
A. All carts remain the property of the Town of Billerica and
must remain with the
property when residents move.
Q. What items can I put in the trash cart?
A. Only regular household refuse should be placed in the trash
cart.
Q. What items are forbidden from going into the trash cart?
A. Due to Department of Environmental Protection Waste Ban
regulations, recyclable material, construction debris, yard waste,
hazardous materials, white goods, tires, TVs, propane tanks, or
similar items are NOT allowed in the cart.
Q. What if I can't fit all my trash in my cart?
A. You may either purchase
Official Billerica Overflow Bags or
pay for an Additional Trash Cart.
Q. What happens if I decide I don't need the additional cart?
A. If the cart is returned before December 31 and is in good
condition, 50% of the annual fee will be refunded. For example, if
the cart is returned in the first year, before December 31, then
$82.50 will be refunded.
Q. How do I get a blue bin for recycling?
A. You can buy one for $5 at the Treasurer's office at the Town
Hall. Free stickers are available at the Treasurer's office and at
the DPW Administration office to place on other containers, such as
old trash barrels.
