Permits & Fees
Fee Schedule:
New House Construction and Additions to Existing Houses - $25.00 Permit Fee
$6.98 Assessed per gallon per day* - PE
$3.10 Assessed per gallon per day* - I/I
*These assessments are based on State Rule 314 CMR that specifies
110 gallons used per day (gpd) per bedroom.
For example, the permitting cost for a new a 3 bedroom house
would be:
$25.00 Permit Fee
$2,603.34 (330 gpd x $6.98) PE
$1023.00 (330 gpd x $3.10) I/I
$3,651.34 Total
These impact fees are charged because new construction was not
considered in the master plan of sewer. These fees go toward
plant expansion (PE) and extra inflow/infiltration reduction (I/I)
measures.
New Construction Office Building or Restaurant -
$200.00 Permit Fee
We use State Rule 314 CMR Regulations on these types of
buildings in determining the permit fee. We use gallons per day as
well as square footage. For restaurants, we go by the number of
seats and gallons per day and multiply those by the $6.98 and $3.10.
For office buildings, we calculate the square footage and multiply
it by the $6.98 and $3.10.
All work must be performed by a licensed and approved drainlayer.
Anyone who so desires may become an approved drainlayer by
filling out an application and supplying a bond and insurance.
There
is no fee for this. The DPW Director approves all applications
and once approved, the name goes on a list of approved contractors
that is on file with the town. The homeowner picks someone
from this list and hires them to tie into the sewer main.
Once the
house or building is tied into sewer, a copy of the sewer permit
is put on file at the Water/Sewer Billing Office. They are
then charged a sewer fee based on the amount of water they
use. |
